Setting sail towards a greener future. Green Maritime Propulsion Pvt. Ltd., the CSL–HBL joint venture, held its first Board Meeting yesterday, with Dr. Harikrishnan S appointed as Chairman.
Kochi, July 08, 2026: Marking a significant milestone in India's maritime technology landscape, the Joint Venture (JV) Company formed by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and HBL Engineering Limited (HBL) held its first Board Meeting yesterday, following its incorporation on June 11, 2026.
During the inaugural Board Meeting, Dr. Harikrishnan S, Director (Operations), Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), was unanimously appointed as the Chairman of the Board of the Company.
Green Maritime Propulsion Pvt. Ltd. has been established with the objective of developing electric mobility technology and energy storage solutions in the maritime space. The partnership reflects the shared commitment of CSL and HBL to fostering innovation, strengthening indigenous capabilities and supporting India's emergence as a global leader in green maritime technologies.
By leveraging the complementary strengths of CSL in shipbuilding and maritime engineering and HBL in advanced battery technologies, power electronics and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), the Joint Venture aims to drive innovation and support the transition towards sustainable and energy-efficient maritime operations. The initiative aligns with India's broader vision of promoting green shipping, indigenous technology development and the decarbonization of the maritime sector.
